Who, what?

This lovely couple from Australia asked us to perform a vow renewal ceremony.  They wanted us to help them celebrate their first wedding anniversary in style.  They had already decided that each year, they will go to a different place in Asia to declare their commitment to each other.  What a great little tradition, so who were we to say no?!

 When, where?

In Japan, there are many fantastic places to have a ceremony such as this.  They chose to have have their ceremony in a beautiful Japanese Garden.  Because it was in early spring, they were lucky enough to do it beneath the cherry blossom.  Although the cherry blossom bloomed a week earlier than usual this year, they were still able to enjoy the pink stuff, under clear blue skies… phew!  We couldn’t have asked for a better day; it was fantastic!

After meeting up at the nearest train station, we took them to select and change into their kimonos before heading out to the garden.  On the way to the vow renewal spot, they stopped by a small tea room to enjoy some green tea and snacks, you know, just to get them in the mood.  They said it looked fantastic, but weren’t to keen on the taste…!  LOL!

After tea, they were ready for the vow renewal and they were joined by some of their friends, who also happened to be in the country at the same time.

The Park was crowded, so we had to be sure to reserve a spot ahead of time.  Luckily, we had scouted the area a few days previously, so we had several locations from which to choose.  Thankfully, our favorite was not too crowded.

Wearing kimonos for the first time, and walking under the cherry blossom, made for an unforgettable Japanese experience.  We wish them well as they continue their life of wedded bliss!
