Sometimes plans work out; sometimes they don’t…
This couple contacted us about two months out hoping for a cherry blossom vow renewal. Unfortunately, they had planned to come just a bit too late… Timing the cherry blossom is getting more and more difficult these days, most likely an affect of global climate change… which is real, by the way!
Luckily, as the cover image shows, we did manage to get a little bit of the pink stuff! 🙂
A Good Time for a Cherry Blossom Vow Renewal?
Cherry blossom in Tokyo usually blooms for about a week, around the end of March and the beginning of April. However, this year it was a bit strange. It bloomed sporadically over three weeks as opposed to all at once. In other words, some areas were in full bloom, others not yet fully bloomed, while in other areas still the cherry blossom had come and gone!
This can make planning a little stressful, especially if you have your heart set on pictures with the blossom in view. However, there is no point stressing things you cannot control, and this couple were cool. They were simply happy to be on their first trip to Japan, with their teenage daughter, and to celebrate their 15 years of marriage.
We were only too happy to help! And after two months of chatting on WhatsApp, it was great to put faces to names here in Tokyo!
Vow Renewal Day
The timeline for this vow renewal was a little different from others we had planned. The couple had booked the kimono vendor separately and contacted us to perform the ceremony and the photo-shoot.
We met them at the garden before hand, and the women as I expected, were dressed in pink! While the cherry blossom was not in full bloom, they each had cherry blossom colors and motifs on their kimonos. By hook or crook they were going to have cherry blossom!!
Under the clear blue skies and in the warmth of early spring, we performed the ceremony which included a surprise ring exchange. After that, we had fun with a camera. 🙂
I’ll let the pictures do the talking now!
What did the couple say?
“My husband and I were planning renew our vows in Japan and I saw Serendipity Flower and Wedding. I checked their profile and read all the good reviews and so I decided to email them.
They quickly replied, we spoke and everything went so smooth. Ross and Ayako were so friendly and yet so professional. I just saw the photos of our wedding and it’s fantastic! I couldn’t ask for any other wedding planner than them.”
